DIGGING FOR HISTORICAL EXPOSURES. THE ASBESTOS INFORMATION ACT OF 1988.

Back to our series to help you locate who, what, when, and where. A good source of information are the responses by the asbestos companies to the Asbestos Information Act of 1988. That being said, I find it hard to believe that this was 33 years ago and yet we are all still fighting the same battles.

The AIA of 1988 was the U.S. Government’s attempt for the asbestos companies to come clean on who sold what products, the years of such sales, and the percentage of asbestos. I think that the responses as contained in the February 13, 1990 Federal Register could have been somewhat clearer, but they are a good place to start on the history.

As you can see, anyone digging for history has a fair number of jumping off points in order to examine the potential exposures.

If any of you would like the 20 pages or so for the February 13, 1990 Federal Registered which contains the complete responses, just email me at TheAsbestosBlog@gmail.com or leave a comment.
