An Exceptional Asbestos Learning Tool: The Global Asbestos Forum Magazine

As I continue my efforts to help educate those who are seeking information about asbestos-related issues, a new tool is now available to help those in need: the Global Asbestos Forum Magazine published by the Global Asbestos Forum foundation. For those who are ill, it is an easy to read starting point. For new attorneys, it is a way to get started. For more experienced attorneys, it is a leg up on those who sit on the the other side of the deposition table in terms of advancing science, expert witnesses, and a desire to prevail personally and on behalf of your clients. For government employees, it is an easy way to catch rising issues and inform those in the management chain before they hear it though other informational channels. For those in-house counsel responsible for asbestos issues, your failure to flip through the hard copy or electron versions for new and updated facts and developments is malpractice. I am sorry to be a heavy on that issue, but it just is.

For academics like me, it is a way to publicize research and gain understanding of projects undertaken by others. For full disclosure, my column and an advertisement that I purchased is on page 52. I make no money off my column, this blog, the purchased advertisement, or the magazine: rather I provide this endorsement because I believe it an excellent source for educating those who are in need. I wish that there existed a source like this for me when my dad passed from Mesothelioma in 1981. That would have been helpful.

The editor of the magazine is Yvonne Waterman LLM FFAAM of the Netherlands. The stories are international in flavor, including focusing on Tony Rich who is the lead photographer for asbestos in the United States, and who makes his photos at Asbestorama available to others. His photo featured in the magazine and titled ‘Oculi Mortis (The Eyes of Death)’ is amazing. Others who work in the asbestos field and are featured are Sean Fitzgerald (defining asbestos), Carlos Duane Salinas (discussing chrysotile roses), plus, in addition to myself, a number of doctors, scientists, testing/laboratory organizations, and experts. The discussions are very extensive with Yvonne putting them all together with style, in an easy to read format.

For those who would like a magazine, please contact Yvonne directly at info@globalasbestosforum.org. Do me a favor and look at the first edition. Not only will your knowledge increase, but maybe societal discussions on asbestos-related issues will take on a different tone. Thanks. Marty at Theasbestosblog@gmail.com.
