Mavis Nye: A Force to be Reckoned With

Many of you know Mavis Nye, if not personally then by reputation. Mavis is a 12 year Mesothelioma survivor living in the U.K. who takes a leading role internationally in education, cheer leading, and fund raising for all Meso Warriors.

In working on my book on asbestos, I have come to know Mavis and her husband/carer Raymond as dear people who reach out to make a difference to so many. The below link is their story which will form a portion of the international discussion in my book. Their story is about exposures to Shipwrights, the first of my three areas in the international materials for interviews and personal discussions, to be followed by a ship user (sailor) and by a Shipbreaker. My intent is to show how long the use of asbestos can expose people to illness and how it damages lives.

Mavis has a Charitable Foundation for medical equipment and related items which is discussed in the article. If you are moved by their story, then please donate to the link discussed in the article. There are other worthwhile asbestos charities, but this blog is about Mavis, Raymond, and their decision to never, ever give up. So, take a deep breath, click on the link, and be prepared to spend a few minutes being impressed and maybe to give some back to them which, in turn, will help others.

Mavis and Raymond Nye

Mavis has been incredibly helpful to me in my endeavors and I will always consider her as the Gold Standard in how you treat people and how you treat life.

As an aside, I am looking to find a Shipbreaker for a similar article. Let me know if you have any potential candidates.

Also, please provide any comments to me at TheAsbestosBlog@gmail.com or in the Comments Section. In the Comments Section for this blog would be better as you can direct them right at Mavis for her to see.
