How to use the Internet when searching for hard to find Historical Information.

Personally, I like to begin my searches for historical asbestos information by using the Hathi Digital Trust. Many documents are available in a complete format while those protected by copyrights typically allow you to undertake more limited searches. Either way, it is worth a shot as you begin to travel down the yellow brick road searching for information. Just take a look at https://www.hathitrust.org/.

For this blog, we will once again show the abundance of Johns-Manville information that is available from the 1920s when looking at the older documents. I will use the 150 plus page 1920 publication entitled Johns-Manville Service to Power Users. This is a great book if you are searching for asbestos containing products used in power generating facilities. I found it, of course, on the Hathi Digital Trust.

Let’s start off with the marketing pages. In summary, what the book is all about.

Next, looking for factories which used the Johns-Manville asbestos containing components? That is easy to find.

Not good enough? Need to know what else Johns-Manville sold in 1920? You just need to flip pages to the back.

This is a short blog as I didn’t want to belabor the point and I think most of my readers will easlily catch on.

Once again, I hope that you find this blog useful. Let me know by email at TheAsbestosBlog@gmail.com or leave a comment. Good searching. Marty
