Sourcebook on Asbestos Diseases: A Historian’s Dream Book. 1980

This is it, so long as you are looking for information from 1899 to 1980. The Sourcebook on Asbestos Diseases: Medical, Legal, and Engineering Aspects authored by George Peters and Barbara Peters published in 1980 by Garland Publishing can be yours on Amazon for anywhere between $120 and $770 at https://www.amazon.com/s?k=sourcebook+on+asbestos+peters+1980&ref=nb_sb_noss or, alternatively, you may borrow my copy. Let’s discuss why the high value.

Initially, it has a Bibliography which chronicles asbestos publications from 1899 to 1979 which takes up 162 dense pages of citations. The below are the first and last pages of the Bibliography. What is unusual is the depth of the discussions including medical, engineering, legal, and general information — all in one concise readable book with references much too broad for any historian to read them all. Luckily many of them include annotations so that you can see what you would get if you search out the referenced books.

Don’t you want to know about the last entry on March 12, 1979 about White House Aides Endangered by Asbestos, Too? I should look that one up. Then again, here is a 2019 citation that indicates the asbestos exposure remains ongoing. https://www.ewg.org/news-insights/news-release/white-house-aides-evacuate-over-asbestos-risks-administration-moves-keep.

The preface and index of the book are very well laid out for simple, understandable reading. Below are the first pages of each.

The following page starts an interesting Personal Questionnaire. This is perfect if you want to fill out the information that your attorney will eventually request. Below is the first page.

As you can see, this book is pretty amazing, although it can bust the budget. If you would like to borrow my copy, you just need to ask.
