Asbestos History and uses as the Roaring 20s Heated Up.

The 1920s saw a significant expansion in the use of asbestos containing products. For you to understand this history, I have attached the following three one-hundred year old articles from Raw Materials Magazine: (1) March 1920 article titled “Asbestos Manufactured Products and Uses,” (2) July 1922 article titled “Asbestos, An Ideal Insulating Material,” and (3) February 1923 article titled “Asbestos — How it is Mined, Spun and Used.” The three articles are attached for your ability to view and download at https://theasbestosblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/1920-Asbestos-Uses-Minus-First-Page.pdf.

These articles will be especially useful for owners and contractors dealing with older buildings and homes. They also contain a lot of general history and great pictures should you be looking for older material to use in presentations that is not copyright protected.

Interestingly, I could only find this material in the Cleveland Public Library when I was looking for them in 2012 for a project. However, they were worth the effort as the discussion on asbestos and the pictures are excellent.
