Getting Up to Speed on Asbestos History: 216 Pages for Beginners Help.
The document which I have attached at https://theasbestosblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/What-Every-New-Lawyer-Needs-to-Know.pdf may be somewhat dated at this point in time, but it is still one of the best available documents on the Internet in order to help young attorneys (and others) get up to speed on asbestos related issues. It was drafted by Attorney James H. Crosby as a 216 page outline for the DRI in 1990. For those unfamiliar with the DRI, its members are attorneys who tend to represent businesses and, in asbestos, that means the defendants. The DRI background information can be found at https://www.dri.org/about/about-us.
The document also can be found freely available on the Internet for downloading. Its title is “What Every New Lawyer Needs to Know and Have to Work in Asbestos Litigation – Training and Orienting Asbestos Personal Injury Litigators.” Good to its name, this document is an excellent starting point for anyone who needs or wants to understand the asbestos background. If today is your first time trying to understand asbestos history, then grab a cup of coffee, take a deep breath, and start turning pages as you quickly (by the end of the day, or maybe even lunch time) learn the basics. If you are experienced, then the review can be a quick one hour page turn in order to remember items that you may have forgotten.
With the following Index.
I hope that you find the above and attached a useful tool for getting up to speed on asbestos history. I know that, over the years, it has helped me.
Let me know what you think either by leaving a message or sending me an email at TheAsbestosBlog@gmail.com. Thanks. Marty
