Research Thesis Number 3: Seeing the Light at the End of the Tunnel
I am just about done with my third research thesis as required for the Master’s in History Program at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. This thesis is tentatively titled:
SOUTH AFRICAN BLUE ASBESTOS FIBERS AT THE ILLINOIS BEACH STATE PARK: MISTAKES OF OUR PAST AND LESSONS FOR OUR FUTURE
I have a few hours work remaining on the arguments, a lot of proof reading, a presentation to the class on May 1st, a presentation to the History Department on May 4th, and then the paper gets turned in for a grade on May 10th. Because of the way the school operates for my oral defense of the combined three research thesis, I can actually make changes and updates until December 2024 as I prepare for that capstone to the program.
I would like to thank all of you who have helped me with pictures and wordsmithing. As a heads up for those with an interest, below are the beginning pages to the current draft.
For the rest of the story, you will need to wait for a couple of weeks. May 10th at the earliest. I hope that you find the topic interesting and the paper well drafted. If you have any thoughts on the topic or what you see, just leave a comment or send me an email to TheAsbestosBlog@gmail.com. Thanks. Marty

600,000 lbs is alot of asbestos considering asbestos is lighter than air..just as bad as the tons of asbestos that came from the mine in libby mt and landed on the town that that the epa sells as safe. In the testimony of David Newman a niosh whistle blower states. When epa does a super fund site..it is not about the health and safety of the citizens but how much money can be made as long as they downplay the exposure. Before epa did anything they spent 15 thousand to print a brochure stating libby mt is a safe place to live and raise a family. The print shop belongs to the mayor and a quick 15 grand for selling a lie. This was 24 yrs ago and libby is still sold as safe only killing those being lied to. Over 600 million wasted.. with the town as deadly today as it was 24 years ago. Shame no one has gone to jail with thousands of people sick dieing and dead as it continues today on a new population being lied to. Thank you Marty for your work in the truth about these corporations knowingly killing life and the contamination that exists..long after we are all gone…take care
The legacy asbestos for cities is quite a problem. I know that you understand and appreciate that issue more than most.
