Asbestos Issues at the Illinois Beach State Park and What is Next.

Asbestos Issues at the Illinois Beach State Park and What is Next.

My third and final thesis for my masters program is titled “South African Blue Asbestos Fibers at the Illinois Beach State Park: Mistakes of our Past, Concerns for the future” located at https://theasbestosblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/IBSP-5-52024.pdf. I hope that you find it interesting and informative.

Although this paper focuses on issues in Illinois, the paradox of satisfying safety/environmental needs in comparison to countervailing economic and community recreational desires exist in many asbestos health situations. Fitting the health risks into the narrative when balancing the benefits is a difficult topic. Personally, I think that the various governmental agencies dealing with the Johns-Manville 600,000 ton asbestos waste issue as potentially polluting the Illinois Beach State Park got it wrong. I would be curious about your thoughts.

Next semester is my capstone that will be a joint defense of all three papers. I will put my Challenger research thesis, https://theasbestosblog.com/?p=11488, with my Bangladesh shipbreaking laborers research thesis, https://theasbestosblog.com/?p=10943, add the Illinois Beach State Park research thesis, and defend the scholarship in a conversation with three professors. Between now and then, I will also be working to publish some of this material.

Once again, thank you for reading my blog. Let me know if you have any questions by leaving a comment or sending me an email at TheAsbestosBlog@gmail.com. Thanks. Marty

I know these govt agency’s can not be trusted and are on the side of the polluters. They are not about the health and safety of the people and get away with murder such as the selling of libby mt as safe. They know it is not safe and those lied to will die from that lie. I think this new epa is more for the people than ever before but still has a long way to go. Keep up the good work my friend and thank you
